"This confession... confronts us with the fascinating abysses of devouring and vulnerability. It is the uncompromising affirmation of a female body that no longer has to apologize for aging, for experiencing pleasure, for suffering, or even for being a disturbance. The dance is anything but decorative: it is an expiation, a living archaeology. CONFESSION PUBLIQUE is not to be watched, it is to be received, in a shudder of both trespass and gratitude. A score of paradoxes, where brutality coexists with an almost maternal tenderness."

THE ARTCHEMISTS

Confession Publique leaves us speechless before the scope of Angélique Willkie's talent as a performer and her fruitful encounter with the choreographic world of Melanie Demers.

This uniquely powerful performance plunges the audience into the heart of confidences and secrets, both spontaneous and not-so-spontaneous. At the pinnacle of her international career, Angélique Willkie pours out her heart and soul in a renewed burst of authenticity and sharing, revealing with immediate impact our intimate relationship with the truth. Undressed, exposed, her ultra-vulnerability makes her more sovereign and unattainable than ever. Choreographer Mélanie Demers relies on the immense talent of this performer to the implacable law of the present moment, which alone determines the rules of the game. The result is an unprecedented and deeply moving tour de force.

At the recent Prix de la danse de Montréal, Confession Publique won both the award for best choreographic work by Mélanie Demers, and for dancer Angélique Willkie's interpretation.

Content Advisory: This show is intended for mature audiences. It is based on a series of stories referencing racism, sexual violation, living in an aging body, and the power of transformation. It contains nudity and mature content. 18+ suggested.
